DA: Teen drug use boosts addiction risk

ASHBURNHAM—Using drugs as a teen increases the chance experimentation will evolve into substance addiction, a representative of the Worcester District Attorney’s Office said Monday. It’s one reason that office is reaching out to area schools with a message: Choice.

“We’re trying to tell them not to make the first choice, because the first choice is going to lead them down the road that they have no intention that they’d every go,” said Eileen Kneeland, community outreach coordinator for the Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Kneeland on Monday brought Early’s school anti-drug program, “This is Not About Drugs” to Overlook Middle School.
